- Landscape Artist Dianne Merten
Dianne Merten
Oil Landscape & Still Life Paintings

Dianne Merten is an oil painter focused on landscapes and still life compositions. Dianne graduated with a bachelor’s in education and has offered classes at a high school level, small adult groups, and through art centers. A student of countless workshops and classes, she has studied under such great Minnesota artists as Michelle Combs and Mary Pettis.
Dianne started her professional artist’s career in 1985 following a pathway that traveled through the realms of folk art to faux wall finishes to acrylic to her present focus on oil landscapes.
During this past decade, Dianne has been honing her skills as a plein air artist, a landscape art form that is largely painted at an outdoor easel. If asked, she would explain that plein air is all about capturing the light—shadow, shade, highlights and tone values—and translating what her emotion sees into a final rendering.
Dianne’s work can be seen at various midwestern art shows, in her gallery space in the Northrup King Art Building in the Minneapolis Art District and lately on her website, DianneMerten.com. Here not only original work is available, but many compositions are also available as prints and merchandise. (Who doesn’t want a Dianne Merten original on a tote bag, mug or phone case?)
